چکیده
An object is called deformable when its shape can be altered according to external stimuli. Contrary to rigid objects, which have a fixed shape, most human organs as well as tissues are deformable. Although rigid objects require for their simulation only translation and rotation properties to be defined, deformable objects demand also deformation parameters to be evaluated, which is usually a computationally intensive procedure.

Automatic preparation, calibration, and simulation of deformable objects.
Many simulation environments - particularly those intended for medical simulation - require solid objects to deform at interactive rates, with deformation properties that correspond to real materials. Furthermore, new objects may be created frequently (for example, each time a new patient's data is processed), prohibiting manual intervention in the model preparation process. This paper provides...
متن کاملCritique for CS448B ARTDEFO: Accurate Real Time Deformable Objects
of Paper The paper presents an algorithm for physically accurate simulation of elastic deformable objects that are also fast enough for real-time animation. The algorithm uses Boundary Element Method (BEM) (vs. Finite Element Method). The algorithm applies to deformable objects that can be simulated by linear elastic models. It achieves interactive speeds by exploiting coherence in typical inte...
متن کاملStable Interactive Cutting of Deformable Objects
In this paper we present a novel approach for stable interactive cutting of deformable objects in virtual environments. Our method is based on the extended finite elements method, allowing for a modeling of discontinuities without remeshing. As no new elements are created, the impact on performance of the simulation is minimized.
متن کاملControllable Simulation of Deformable Objects Using the Heuristic Optimal Control Method
Physically-based simulation techniques have been widely used in computer graphics because it creates highly realistic animation. However, due to the limitation of passive simulation and simplified modeling methods, it is very difficult to control the behavior of deformable objects directly. Ability to control the behavior of deformable objects is a very important feature for an effective simula...

We present an efficient algorithm for haptic rendering of deformable bodies with highly detailed surface geometry using a fast contact handling algorithm. We exploit a layered deformable representation to augment the physically based deformation simulation with efficient collision detection, contact handling and interactive haptic force feedback.
